So, I’ve checked out previous arch pain questions and no, I don’t think I have plantar fasciitis. I don’t have pain in the morning, they don’t feel tight, etc. But I do have overwhelming pain in the arches of my feet while exercising. I recently started getting serious and (as much as I can) trying to do 30 min of in-home exercise a night (stationary bike, wii fit, exercise videos, etc.). I’m not technically overweight (my BMI is high-average), so I don’t think I’m overstressing my feet…I’d just like to get back to a certain size for which I own some neat duds ;) I did a belly-dancing video barefoot (thats what they called for…and I’ve done a class and you’re supposed to do it that way, but it just killed my arches). On wii fit you’re not supposed to wear shoes on the balance board, but the running (not on the board), step aerobics, and "bicycling" absolutely kill my arches. I LOVE Zumba and that’s the only video I’ve been able to do comfortably, but the last two tries I’ve had to take breaks and today stop the video because it was killing my arches. (If I go and ride my exercise bike though, it feels better after a while). I tried a Billy Blanks Boot Camp Tai Bo thing, but that killed my thighs (different story there!!!). Ugh. Should I just take a few days off…will that make whatever is bothering me go away so I can restart my "training"? Or, did I screw something up and need to go to the doctor? Should I wear shoes, or not? What does everyone else do?

My question is…sounds like the orthotic insoles are the way to go, but what about activities with no shoes? I tried my Zumba video with and without shoes and some moves were better with shoes/some without.

When I walk/jog in any shoes, with any thickness of socks on (I have tried EVERYTHING!) the balls of my feet get really hot and burn from what I can only assume is friction. I guess maybe the balls of my feet are rubbing against my socks? Does any one know what causes this problem? It happens while I’m walking across campus, on the elliptical and treadmills at the gym, pretty much any time that I’m walking with a purpose. I’ve tried different shoes, different socks, and different insoles. Does anyone know a type of shoe that is deigned to help stop this??

Thanks!

I recently started running but for the past couple of runs on the treadmill, my knees have hurts so bad. Now I can barely run because they hurt so bad. I think I have the wrong type of running shoes even though I just bought mine. What should I look for in running shoes that would help me as I am pretty sure I am flat-footed though I haven’t seen a specialist or anything? Or are there insoles or something I can put in my current shoes that would help? Thanks!

No matter what price I pay, most insoles are pretty bad. They are usually completely flat and don’t have that arch support they used to have years ago. They also get worn out real easily. Even insoles that I buy often won’t work well because the area below the insole is also too flat and provides too little support.

I tend to get some pain in my legs because of this. Anybody know what I’m talking about or what I can do about that?
So which would be a good place for that? The shoes I generally buy cost around 0, but I am surprised to always find out how bad the insoles are and how little they adapt to the shape of the foot as the insoles are almost completely flat. It’s almost as if the shoe manufacturers don’t want the shoes to last so you can buy new ones quicker.

Hello, I need help quickly with my foot problems. I found out a dew months ago that i overpronate. I had no idea what this was until i did a little research. During running my calfs start to cramp and burn and my feet hurt a lot. I got sof sole graphite insoles and they dint seem to do much then i got powerstep full length and i use them in my everyday shoes, not sure if they made a difference but during lacrosse i use superfeet blue for my cleats and they seem to work a little bit. i was wondering if someone could tell me what kind of arch supports will really help and prevent all the damage i heard can be done by overpronation. Also i am starting to jog/sprint during my exercise routines and was thinking about getting some asics shoes designed for overpronation but i will only use them when i run. Will the shoes be enough support or will i need arch supports in them also?

Please help I have no idea what to do

I walk quite a bit, and have flat feet so I wear those special insoles my doc recommended. However, I noticed my shoes tend to wear off at a "slant" meaning if you were to set my shoes on a table, they would both lean outwards instead of sitting straight and flat.

Is there a way to stop this from happening? I wear down even newer shoes and can’t afford to buy new shoes every month or two. I was wondering if I bought mens shoes instead of womens if they would wear down more slowly then a womans shoe would.

I’m not sure what to do about this problem but if anyone has any advice would sure appreciate it, thanks!

Hi all,
I work at a coffee shop and I’m on my feet all day. The dress code calls for a pair of black dress-type shoes (not sneakers), and the pair I bought were rather cheap () and by the end of the day, my feet are killing me, especially the balls of my feet. What type of inserts should I get for my shoes, considering buying a new pair is out of my budget?

For the last 2 weeks, each time I play basketball I’ve had a burning sensation/pain on the arch of my left foot. I’ve tried different shoes, none of which alleviate the pain. I also have custom insoles that I got a while ago and those don’t seem to do the work either.

Any ways to remedy the problem? Would taping my ankle/arch of my foot do anything?

After I started having them, I stopped running for about 3 weeks. It started to get better. I started running again with less mileage, and pain is starting to come back. I do have some pronation in my step so I went and got some superfeet insoles. That did not seem to help tough. I run on Asics stability shoe. Are there any better shoes for shin splints?

I am a runner, but I get pain in my achillies and the bone attached to achillies. I observed that my right feet overpronates (bends in ). I bought gel asics shoes, but I still get pain,

I think overpronating insoles would be good. But there is nothing particular I can find in Insoles. Do you have anything to suggest.

I also bought a normal insoles, that provide cushion and good for knee. But it didn’t proves any help.

I am looking for overpronating feet insoles.
